Selamat Hari Raya!

After one month of fasting, now it's time to celebrate!

1st Shawwal, year 1429 under the Muslim's calendar. Hmm...579 years difference.

'Hari Raya' literally means "Day of Celebration" and Hari Raya Aidilfitri is also known as Hari Raya Puasa which means "Celebration Day of Fasting".

On this day the Muslims also seek forgiveness from others thus they have this verse 'Maaf Zahir dan Batin' which translates loosely to "seeking forgiveness (from whoever) physically and spiritually.

So tomorrow is the day that we forgive and forget all the bad things that has been done unto us by others as Hari Raya is a time to reconcile and renew relationships with others. Shall we?

Okay, I hereby wish all the Muslims of the world especially my Muslim friends,

'Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin'.

Quotes, quotes, quotes...

Some quotes that I find quite okay and funny.

...you think loving him is your biggest mistake
but then, how can it be so wrong if it feels so right?
If ever you made a mistake,
its not that you love him,
its thinking that someday he'll love you too...

Women need a reason to have sex.
Men just need a place.

Sex at age 90 is like trying to shoot pool with a rope.

It's so great to find that
one special person
you want to annoy
for the rest of your life.

To keep your marriage brimming,
With love in the loving cup,
Whenever you're wrong, admit it;
Whenever you're right, shut up.

What a REAL joke!

I came across this joke from a blog which I accidentally opened.

I find it amusing and quite true. Enjoy...

Aged Women

What is the difference between girls/woman aged: 8, 18, 28, 38, 48, 58 and 68?

At 8 — You take her to bed and tell her a story.

At 18 — You tell her a story and take her to bed.

At 28 — You don’t need to tell her a story to take her to bed.

At 38 — She tells you a story and takes you to bed

At 48 — She tells you a story to avoid going to bed.

At 58 — You stay in bed to avoid her story.

At 68 — If you take her to bed, that’ll be a story!

Well I guess it also depends on the age of the man who is reading this. You think so?

Moonlight Resonance

If anyone asked me to recommend a good Chinese series, my answer would be 'Moonlight Resonance'. I think this show is one of those shows that's worth my time watching.

It's a 40 episodes series of strong family bonding, exceptional tolerance, extreme cruel intentions and unconditional love. An excellent story line with little or rather no repetition of movie scenes (a tactic by some producers to drag the series longer) A sad case of family feud with a happy ending.

A good series to watch. No regrets.

I know, I know not? Please do not take me for granted!

People often say,
I know I know
I know what you mean
do you? Really?

I'd say,
Sorry I know not
How could I?
when your words make no sense

People often say,
I know I know,
I know what you want
do you? Really?

I'd say,
Sorry I know not
How could I?
when you don't even tell

People often say,
I know I know
I know what you're thinking
do you? Really?

I'd say,
Sorry I know not
How could I?
when your brain's not mine

People often say,
I know, I know
I know how you feel
do you? Really?

I'd say,
Sorry I know not
How could I?
when your nerves aren't on mine

Please do not take me for granted,
For you know not what I think,
You're are no mind reader

Please do not take me for granted,
For you know not what I am,
You may have change or maybe not
but I definitely have

Please do not take me for granted,
For you know not what I want,
but what I want is no longer
what I need nor is it what I think
nor how I feel

Please do not take me for granted,
For I can still speak now
what's there on my mind
or is there?
If only you'd ask
and not say, I know I know

Please do not take me for granted,
For I wish you'd ask
and not think you know, even when you don't
Or you may choose to not
and take me for granted
till the day come when I could no longer speak
and forever hold my peace...

Beauty Tips..?

I came across this ad a few days ago or rather someone showed it to me. I thought it was quite interesting.

By the way the ad also stated, No Surgery, No Side-Effects, No Pills!

Wah! I thought, cool! For RM188 you get your busts enlarged! From cup size A to B! I'll be the first in line! Yes! No doubt about this, I need one! Eh no, I want one!

But then again....if their method really works, they should be the richest, biggest, most renown fitness centre in the world by now, since they mentioned their method have been proven for more than 10 years. Money Back Guarantee? No? Public listed company? Not yet? Why? What's the problem? Not so convincing yah?

If their method works, what would happen to all the plastic surgeons out there? What will those people who have spent thousands of dollars for silicon implant thinks? "SUCKERS!"

In case you're curious about this ad and want to know more, click here.

The decision is yours!

Middle Age Crisis

You know your time will come, sooner or later, you'll be there.

~ MIDDLE AGE ~

And you will know, once you're there. How?

When people stop commenting how pretty you are. The word pretty might changed to elegant if you are lucky!

When someone tells you, you need a good moisturiser, meaning your skin is dry!

When someone tells you, you need to go for more facial, meaning your skin is dull!

When men stop looking at you!

When your eyesight starts to fail you.

When your hair starts thinning!

Sounds so scary. I know my time is approaching and I'm a little scared. Being a vain person, I am very particular about my appearance. How can I let myself go? How could I? People around me keep asking me to use this use that, eat this eat that, try this try that and the list goes on. I know, I know, of course you can slow down the process of aging...but it requires MONEY! And lots of it I think. Please people, I would use, eat or try anything if they're FREE!

But nothing in this world comes free. No free lunch also. So how? Just let it be? Or just spend the money? Such a hard decision to make. I want my youth but I also want to keep my money!
Anything out there that is cheap and good? I doubt it, if anything wrong happened, have to spend more money. No, no, no, penny wise pound foolish.

Maybe someone clever will come up with something later? Can that someone please help me?

If I were the MAN of the house.

It keeps my mind boggling every now and then.

If I were the MAN of the house, meaning the head of my family...what are the things that I should do?

Being a woman, I sincerely hope that I am NOT the man of the house. I want my man to be THE man. I wish I could just be at home, looking after my kids, takes care of the household thingy, go out for afternoon tea with friends once a while, go shopping, take yoga or dancing classes, learn new recipes, etc. etc. etc....... There are endless things that I want to do. BUT...

If I have to be the MAN, then I would like to make sure...

...that my family is being well taken care of financially and emotionally. I must not let them worry over our financial situation unless there is a crisis. Everything will be under my control. I would provide food, shelter and all other necessities for them even when I am not around. I would give them all the attention they need provided they also have to let me have my own space and private time, without questions.

My wife is free to choose if she would want to work or not. If she works, she can keep all her salary to herself and use it for whatever reason she thinks of. Of course I would advised her to keep some for her old age. You know, just in case. If she chose not to work, then I would give her some pocket money and of course, shower her with lots of love...but I would also want my wife to love me and takes care of me when I'm home. She shouldn't nag at me or tell me things that I do not wish to hear after a long day at work. e.g. Your son is not doing this or that, your daughter is very naughty today or the maid is driving me nuts....and so on.

My children, of course will get all the best things that I can afford. Education, sports, hobbies, anything they want to try their hands on. And I want to be part of their lives too, so I will be there for them for whatever reasons...first day of school, birthdays, concerts, graduation, wedding....

And to make this happen, I have to be okay myself. If I'm not okay how am I supposed to make my family okay. Financially, physically and mentally stable I must be!

And so help me god!

Anyway, I still prefer not to be the MAN. Why can't we just leave the MAN job to the men.

The End is Near!

It's getting pretty interesting now. Exciting, heart pumping.
I can't wait to see the day. 916, Sept 16. What's going to happen? I wonder.

Our government must have gone nuts. What on earth are they doing?
Arresting people under ISA? Then say that it's for protection? Arrests the witness and let the criminal free? This is unbeliveable!

Home Affair Minister, SH knows nothing of the arrests? Only learnt about it after the arrests were made? The arrests is all planned and executed by the police force without his knowledge?
I wonder if he thinks he's talking to morons or he thinks we have the intelligence of his level?

This is OUTRAGES! What leaders have we here? Have we got any leader with a little brain out there? Can someone start talking sense? I guess by now we should know what we want for ourselves and our country. Maybe we should thank them for helping us to decide faster. I know what I want...The Change!

The Change, meaning, change of our government. For better or for worst? I'm willing to take the chance. At least there's a chance...

My hope will be, the change will take place in a peaceful manner. We'll have someone better to take us out of this bad economic situation. Political unstability in this country will end. And the people live happily ever after...

My wish will be, the change will create a better environment for our future generations in this country. Will give us equal rights and opportunity politically so as the first ever non-Malay PM will be born in this country. All races unite and stand as one under this PM irregardless of his race or gender.

Until this day arrive, I'll just celebrate the Mooncake Festival and hopefully I won't be detained under the ISA law after the celebration like poor Ms Kok.

...and so help me God!

Mooncake Festival

Soon, 14 September, this coming Sunday...2 days before 916, we'll be celebrating Mooncake Festival or Lantern Festival or Mid Autumn Festival. Whatever you call it, it is the same thing because it is a Festival celebrated in mid autumn where mooncakes are served and lanterns are lit.

I thought, how time flies. It felt like I just had mooncakes not long ago. Just like the saying, in a blink of the eyes, time just passes you by. So I remembered someone told me not to blink my eyes so often if I want to stay young longer. I tried, but doesn't seem to work for me.

I guess I'm going to get some candles, lanterns and mooncakes. Ask a few friends to come over for a drink or two or maybe more and watch the moon!? Is this what we're supposed to do? Watch the moon! OMG! I think not, maybe yes for the candles, lanterns, mooncakes and drink but definitely not watch the moon!

So hopefully after this celebration, we'll get another celebration. 916. But then again I'm not putting all my bet on this day as things has gone astray somehow. Nevertheless I hope it will happen one day maybe a bit later but the day must come!

Oh, coming back to my mooncake festival, I made some mooncakes about 2 weeks back and they turned out quite well. I'm posting some pictures that I took during the process. Maybe next year can open up a mooncake stall and make some fast bucks. Coz my average cost for each mooncake is about RM3 and how much they're selling out there...RM11...You see what I mean?

Roll mooncake paste into sphere (lotus and pandan flavour)

Preparing the skin of the mooncake.

Flatten out skin onto palm. Place paste in the middle and wrapped around.

Place prepared mooncake into mould and press out.

...and Woalah! Mooncakes!

Just Cook...

I wanted to cook! Suddenly I wanted to dish up something. Don't know why and I don't want to know why, just feel like doing it.

So, I got some ingredients and there I go, preparing and cooking up dish after dish of food. I can say that I haven't been doing this for quite a while. I thought I might lose the touch.

But then again, what the heck...I just do it anyway. And what do you know, I came up with quite a few good dishes. (beyond my expectations) Think I still got it.

If you really wanted to know, these are the dishes that I managed to come up with:

Clockwise from left is braised sea cucumber and chinese mushrooms lined with chinese mustard and abalone (the cheap ones lah), steam scallops with garlic and ginger, steam sea promfret with light soy sauce and stir-fried prawns with salted egg yolk.

And there is also a pot of fish maw soup which I didn't manage to snap a photo of.

Hmm, I would say to myself, "not bad" as the end result is quite clear. See for yourself:

If anyone want the recipe, I would gladly share. Till the next time I cook again, (maybe months later or sooner) it will be hawker food take away!

Cheers!

What a comment...by Tun M

I woke up this morning, walked downstairs, got the newspaper and started turning the pages.

As usual the headlines...politics of course! And as usual I would just browsed through the headings till this heading caught my attention, 'DR.M: Why must Malay leaders say sorry? If you must know, this is how it goes:

TDrM has questioned why Malay leaders were apologising over a remark deemed as racist by an UMNO leader. He said non-Malay leaders never apologised when similar racists remarks were made by members of their community. ......he cited the case of the Hindraf front and Wong Meng Chee who made the parody of the Negaraku...

Okay I thought, minus the Hindraf case as I do not really understand what had happened then, why is Tun M. comparing our leaders with some kid. And of course Meng Chee has apologised to the whole nation on his action. Why should the non-Malay leaders apologise? On his behalf? They didn't do anything wrong, they didn't ask Meng Chee to sing the song, so why apologise for something you didn't do? Keeps me wondering if one day we commited a crime, do our leaders take the punishment on our behalf?

Coming back to our Malay leaders, they, themselves did something or say something but they have no guts to admit it? Or rather they say they didn't do anything wrong? It's being twisted? It's not wrong, it's the truth? And if you don't like it, so be it? And we have to accept this?

Tun M. what are you talking about? What are you thinking? Or are you thinking? Please...I really cannot agree with you.

Rubik's Cube....anyone?

I heard it's back in the market now! Or maybe sometime back,I' m not sure.
As for me, the first time I saw this thing, was way back in the early 80's.
I was about 10 years old then, I think. OMG 20 over years ago!

So, just for old time sake I bought one that day and tried to work on it. Guess what?
I can't remember how to fix it. I used to be good at it those days...but now I just manage to do the top face and the first 2 layers after. Hmm..not a good sign. Memory lapse I think.

How? Of course I have my best friend who's always there for me whenever I'm in need. "Google"
Yes, I browsed the net and found a few solutions for the cube. Or rather many sites who offer the solutions. My my, I'm really amazed to see how those people out there can fix the cube in mere seconds! If you don't believe me click here.

Then of course after numerous tries, I finally manage to solve the rubik's cube without having to look at the tutorial that is. Wah! what an achievement for someone my age hah.

For now, my record time is 2.52 minutes and my average time is 5.00 minutes. Not bad huh?
Please don't compare me to those wiz out there lor. And I will definitely work on this more to better my time and break my own record.

Ops! For those of you out there who doesn't know what is this rubik's cube I was talking about, (well, no one says you must know everything right?) here are some pictures of it.

This is a 3x3 cube. 6 faces with 9 small squares on each face.

The objective of the game is to get all the same colour squares on each face. By rotating the cubes in different directions.

But of course you can also do it another way....by dismantling the whole cube and put it back together with their correct colours. That's what I called CHEATING!

And yes, they come in many sizes and shapes too.

If you want to try your hands on them, get the original Rubik's. Trust me, its worth the money as they rotates better and last longer. Good Luck!
