I believe we all agree but...

I agree with fellow bloggers who wrote about the not so good side of our country's constitution. Well, I believe many people agree too and I believe most of them felt the same.

50 years. 50 long years of tolerance. The so called Bumiputras' or aborigines' special rights of this beloved country of ours. The ones that give them special privileges in education, housing, business, land ownerships, loans and maybe more? 'Ketuanan Melayu'?

How many more years must we the non-bumis tolerate, giving-in to their demands? How many more generation of bumis do we have to spoon feed? How do we tell our children, our grandchildren and our great grandchildren about these special rights? Do they and their future generations too have to live with it because it's a promise made by their ancestors centuries ago?

Why? When? How? What? Where? So many questions have been asked but brushed aside? Pardon me? We're not supposed to even question these rights, right? Just like we're not supposed to question God? Question God? How?

Oops, sorry! Didn't mean to offend God's believers. No offence yah?

Besides PKR promising us 'the change' (still remain as a promise only) and giving us hope of 'a change', is there anything else that we can do? Or suppose to do to achieve this change? Sigh...! I think we need MILK!

Let there be HOPE!

Harvey Bernard Milk (May 22, 1930 – November 27, 1978) was an American politician the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California, as a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

Milk, a movie made to retell the true story of this courageous man or gay man has captured the hearts of many. This film was nominated for 8 Oscar Awards and has won 2 , The Best Actor Award and Writing Original Screenplay Award.

This movie did moved me to a point that I felt we are quite a lucky bunch. We are living in a world that the best are already laid out for us. There are so much things that we have taken for granted all the time simply because they had existed. So, from now on I will count my blessings! Nevertheless, I hope that one day someone like Harvey will come to our rescue and fight for our rights in this politically screwed up country. Better late than never?

Back to the movie, Sean Penn is really amazing. With all the kissing scenes he did and if he is not gay, bless him! But minus all the x scenes, Sean is such a great actor! (I think) No wonder he took home the Best Actor (leading role) Award. I haven't watch Richard Jenkins, Frank Langella and Mickey Rourke yet (which I will) so I'm not commenting anything extra here.
Sean Penn
as Harvey Milk

I would say this movie is a good watch. Watch it! It definitely won't make you gay if you're not ONE!

To wed or not to wed?

You waited more than 20 years for your boyfriend to propose to you.

...he tells you he couldn't tie the knot because that would ruin his career. He tells you he shouldn't be seen around with you for the same reason. And...

You believe him.

...he spends most of his time not being with you. He flirts around and may have more girls that he could ask for. He couldn't be with you in time of need as his time is more important. And...

You still love him, unconditionally.

Sounds pathetic? You bet! What a jerk! (you may think) 20 years of youth wasted on the man you think who loves you! Think about it, think again, by the end of 20 years...you think he still wants you? Get real honey!

My heart goes out to you Carol. Good Luck! All the best! Actually, there are other more important things in life than marriage!

So, all the President's Men has made it. What's next? And the report says,

Apparently overwhelmed by the occasion, Hishamuddin said: “I still need time to absorb it.”

“The line-up is young ... but I think we can bring the country to greater heights.”

“This win is a team that represents the aspirations of the delegates so that the leadership institution of Umno will be strengthened with a combination of past and present statesmen,” Zahid said.

“It can be a platform for Najib so that Umno can be rebranded and made relevant to the Malays and the people of Malaysia.”

“Umno needs to be relevant to young voters as about two million of them will be voting in the next general elections.”

“The new line-up is a good combination which will help Najib strengthen Umno.”

“It’s not important who got the highest votes but that we can work together. All of us are products of Umno Youth and were on the executive committee when Najib was the chief and this (shared history) will help Najib.”

“As Pak Lah said, Umno Youth is a continuity from the 1950s and suitable for the present.”

LOL! I just feel like laughing...okay okay, young blood, young mind for the future! Who's future? Ours or theirs? What the h%#@! Not interested! I'm more interested in the 7 April by-election.

Switch them off?

Earth Hour is an annual international event created by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature/World Wildlife Fund), held on the last Saturday of March, that asks households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. Based on an idea successfully executed in Thailand in 2005, it was pioneered by WWF Australia and the Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, and achieved worldwide participation in 2008.

Earth Hour will next take place on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 8:30 pm, local time.

(The above are derived from Wikipedia)

So, are we going to support this event? Or should I be asking myself? Okay okay, I'm so lame. I know!

All I want to know is what are we getting out of this? How much energy can we save by switching off our lights for one hour, a year? If we can save that much of energy and prolong our Earth's life then why not do it every month? Every week or even everyday? Can someone light me up on this?

If by switching off the lights for this hour can help save our Earth, I will definitely do it! Yes! Support Earth Hour!

Yes! Yes! Yes!

UMNO 2009 AGM

Today and tomorrow are the days UMNO members will elect their new exco members.
UMNO, UMNO Youth, UMNO Wanita, UMNO Puteri, all inclusive. The meeting is meant for last year (2008) but held this year...mmm (actual dates 24 - 28 March)....what the h*#@! who cares!

So, as usual we see lots of power struggle. And as usual before the election many so called candidates will be eliminated stage by stage to make way for the 'right' person. This is of course assisted by our new independent agency MACC but no worries, those found guilty will not be punished or prosecuted. You'll be let go with a stern warning or worst, barred from running for any post in the party. And yet can still be a member of parliment and still hold top position in our government offices! Oops! I'm not supposed to say or write anything which deem offensive and not supportive of our government or I shall be prosecuted and if found guilty will be fined or jailed or both! Wow! See the difference here...?

2 opposition newspapers Harakah & Suara Keadilan have been ordered to stop publication with immediate effect. Reason? Their articles are confusing the public! Online media (The Malaysian Insider & Malaysiakini) are not allowed to cover the UMNO meeting live. They are not even allowed to go into the assembly hall! Reason? Their reports are irresponsible and sickenning??

Now I'm confused...???

The Reader

Watched this movie yesterday. Totally dumbfounded.

Oscar award winner Kate Winslet, who won the 'Best Actress Award' for acting in this movie is the sole reason why I watched this movie. How she won it? I'm not sure. But I'm happy she did.

Kate's (36yrs) relationship with David Kross (15 yrs) is somewhat too ...?? Oh, what do I know. I may have to watch it again to understand the story better. ....which I don't mind coz Kate is beautiful (at the beginning of the movie when she was younger). As for David, well he's cute but too young...not my kind.

Anyway, this movie has quite a strong storyline. You've got to understand it in order to understand it. Sounds complicated? Go watch it! The next movie I want to watch is 'Milk'.

He blogs!

I remembered when I threw him this question one year ago, "Do you blog?"

The answer I got was, "No way, lifeless!"

Well, he has changed his mind now and he started blogging! I'm not sure what's the reason and I'm not sure if it'll last. I'm just happy he did it. Doesn't matter how long or how far it may go, at least there's something going on now.

Welcome to the Bloggers' World, Edmunde!

Gents

There are a couple of times in my life that I had accidentally walked into a guy's washroom and a few times that I deliberately walk in (emergency...)

So far, there were no screaming, lucky me. I noticed the gents are not much different from the ladies except for those wall mounted urinals. Wash basins, cubicle toilets with doors, mirrors, tiled walls and floor are very much the same with those in the ladies.

But then....I saw this picture which my friend took and I couldn't help but post it here. It's so funny I thought. To have people looking, laughing and taking your picture while you are peeing! It's bad enough to have strangers standing beside you looking at your xxx while you pee, unless yours is of a substantial size you might want to dive straight into those cubicles. Nope, I don't know actually, I was just imagining how you guys felt.

Of course this is not real, but it's cute!

Another sad news...

Natasha Richardson dies at 45. Leaving behind her husband Liam Neeson and sons, Micheal and Daniel.

This is the news I got today from one of the newspapers online. Not that I knew Natasha personally but news of her skiing accident since Monday has got my curiousity level raised to finding out more about this lovely lady. A bell finally rang in my head when they mentioned that she starred in the movie 'The Parent Trap'. But I'm sure I could have recognised her from any show, just that I don't remember her name. ( I know this is not cool but my memory space is limited)

I soon found out (from wikipedia) that she had starred in numerous movies, plays and musicals. This talented British lady has won numerous awards as well for her outstanding performances and acts.

It's sad that we have to lose her so soon and at such short notice. From a normal skiing vacation, a harmless skiing lesson (for beginners) and a common fall that seems to show no seriousness to a brain trauma that leads to her death. This is really scary, I'd say life is really unpredictable.

I think I will make it a point to tell my loved ones that I love them each time we bid goodbye. Even though we argued or fought till our hair drops off, just end it with "love yer!" Well, if that will be the last word they heard from me, at least they know...I love them!

May you rest in peace...Natasha.

When will they ever stop?

I think as citizens of this country, we have been tested and tested over and over again of our patience and our intelligence. I guessed we have been taken for thousands of rides and have our brains blown off for reasons that are beyond our imagination.

When will this ever stop! Or is it just me!

Remember when DBKL tried to change 'Jalan Alor' to 'Jalan Kejora'? And what happened next..?
Now it's history repeating again. This time is MPK trying to change 'Little India' to 'Medan Kelana'!

Medan Kelana? Does that mean anything to you? The reason? It's sitting on Jalan Tengku Kelana, so we will adopt the name 'Kelana' from that. Huh??? Okay...if it is a new place, by all means go ahead but...Little India has been there like 50 years! And the name is given because this little stretch of road housed everything that are related to India!

So now, again there will be protest and so on and so forth. Our councils are just so sickening! Don't they have other better things to do or is this issue deliberately created to spark some kind of ....???

Damn!

PhotoFunia

I wonder how many net users out there have heard of PhotoFunia? No, not me. At least not until two days ago. I found out this site after seeing my friend's picture on Face Book.

I thought it was quite cool. Having your picture being super imposed on billboards, magazines, etc. It only takes minutes to do it and you do not need to do much. Just click here and there and those guys from PhotoFunia will do the rest. The best part is it's FREE!

I thought it was quite fun. Want to give it a try? Click here

Here are some of the things I did using PhotoFunia. Hope you don't mind looking at them.

Sad news...

It was just last Tuesday that Noraini, Malani, Pauline, Danny, Stanley and I met up at Bernie's and it was then that I was introduced to Shahril.

Shahril is Noraini's friend. A soft spoken guy with a passion for music. He called himself a musician not a singer. He said the difference is he appreciates the music not just the singing. And according to Noraini he sings really well. We even talked about going over to one of the joints he used to frequent to watch him perform. But I'm afraid this won't happen as Shahril passed away yesterday. (got the news from canonmalaysians' blog)

For whatever reason, I do not know. Well, I know this happen to everyone but can it be not so sudden or so soon? I just felt sad that this has to happen to someone I know, even though for just a short period of time. It is like you met someone, said "Hi", talked for awhile, joked, laughed then said "Bye" coz you got to go and then that's the last time you'd see of him! Shocked?

Lost for words here....may you rest in peace, my friend. My condolences to his loved ones.

Wedding On Ice!

Ever fancy having your wedding ceremony on ice? Well, sounds like a fantasy, especially in a hot weather country like ours.

But, someone did it! Of course, I was invited to this wonderful and unique event.

The date is 14 February 2009, yes, on Valentine's day. Venue? Sunway Pyramid Ice Rink, where else can you find a piece of ice in Malaysia? The happy couple, Harry and Elina!

The evening started with a song played by a live band (I do not know their name, sorry) and ice skating performances by Dian, Edmund, Julian, Jennifer (Harry's students) and also Harry himself. Oh, fyi, Harry is Sunway Ice Skating Academy's Head Coach. Then Michael Pasfiel (Harry's 'Sifu') gave a speech and performed on ice too. And of course he did his renowned move, 'the back flip on ice'! After all the vow and ring exchanging, we are treated to a sumptuous buffet. Lots of food and drinks.

Sounds good? Want to do it too? Let me know, I can give you the contact number of the organizer.

Congratulations! Harry & Elina!

...and the both of them lived happily ever after! The End!

Something fishy?

This blue box created some kind of waves the past few days.

Yes, the ruling came from LKIM last week and causes fish importers to go on strike. Creating a shortage of fish in our market and soon the price of fish soars, in the end the consumers suffer!

Then, Government steps in and resolves the matter. Things back to normal. There you go, no worries, we (the Government) are here to help the people. See what we've done for you. Now you should be grateful and vote us in the next election!

Yes! Malaysia Boleh! (Malaysia Can!) Apa-apa pun boleh jadi! (Anything also can happen!)

Sorry, don't mean to hold BM Language lessons here but just thought of throwing a word or two just in case you think I do not know anything about this language.

Back to our blue box story, sometimes we, the people of this beloved country have often been taken for rides by our Government be it obviously or not. They always come up with some superb ideas with figures pluck out from thin air and implemented these so called 'great ideas' without giving them a second thought. ...and if it doesn't work they will gladly passed it out as "It's only a suggestion?".

Sigh...so, whose idea was it that these insulated containers must be use to transport imported fish? What is the good thing about these containers, more hygienic? Keep the fish fresher? More economical? Easier to obtain?

Hell no! According to our fish importers!

These containers are much smaller (200 litre capacity) compared to the current ones (220 litre) and they cost RM205 each compared to current ones RM130 each. This is surely not economical! Hey, don't they know how to count? I wonder which preschool those guys from LKIM attended? Surely don't want to send my kids there!

More hygienic? Better insulation so fish can be kept fresh for a longer period. Cool! Right on! But then why only 10% of the load are to use this cool containers? Why not 100%? So, the other 90% of fish load can go to rot? For all they care, as long as they (LKIM) gets the 10% sales of blue box from each transported load? ....??? Oh, did I mention that all these blue containers can only be bought from ONE SUPPLIER? You guess who?

Great! Who will buy this? Morons!

After all the hoos and hahs, yours truly (our beloved government) came out to say, "With immediate effect, the importers can use the insulated containers on a voluntary basis." CASE CLOSED!

Remember? After a case is closed no questions are allowed anymore! (quoted by our beloved PM) I guess I have to shut up now???

Women!

Today is International Women's Day. So?

What's up? Does it mean that women are allowed to rule for just this one day?
Okay, today women are allowed to do whatever they want! With whoever they choose! Be wherever they wish! Hey! Sounds great, think so?

Heck! But no! No such thing...still have to work, still got to cook, clean, wash, iron, etc. What's the point here?

No matter how independent we are, as women, we are still bound to the traditional ruling of our ancestors.(...that a woman's place is with her family till the day she crosses over to the other world...) Perhaps more so if you are an Easterner compared to a Westerner.

But of course, we are way much better now, compared to our ancestors. Thanks to all the activists who fought for us! As things change from bad to good and then better, even though the best has yet to come I felt blessed that I was born in this era.

I am still looking forward to the day when women are really equal with men. Until then I will just continue to be the woman I am now. And be happy with what I am!

Happy Women's Day!

Under A Tree...

Under a tree...

Buddha attained enlightenment under a tree...

Lord Krishna meditated under a tree and was shot by a hunter which mistook his left foot for a deer...

Jesus saw Nathaniel under a tree...

The Prophet said, "... I am like a traveller, who takes a rest under a tree in the shade and then goes on his way. ..."

Adam and Eve could be the first couple who committed sin under a tree...

Sir Isaac Newton discovered the law of gravity while he's under a tree...

George Washington should be standing under a tree before he could cut it down...

Now now, many a thing could happen under a tree...but today 3 March 2009, marked a historical moment for us as democratic people of Malaysia.

For today is the day that we see the fighting spirit for democracy in our country, when...Perak Speaker V Sivakumar convened an emergency sitting of the state assembly today which effectively voted to end the de facto Barisan Nasional (BN) government of Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir...under a tree!

What a joke!

I was flipping through the newspaper today, reading article after article on our government, politics, law and policies when suddenly remembered this song by the Bee Gees.

I started a joke, which started the whole world crying,
But I didn't see that the joke was on me, oh no.

I started to cry, which started the whole world laughing,
Oh, if I'd only seen that the joke was on me.

I looked at the skies, running my hands over my eyes,
And I fell out of bed, hurting my head from things that Id said.

Til I finally died, which started the whole world living,
Oh, if I'd only seen that the joke was on me.

I just can't help but wonder if they realize what they said or did were just a big joke to the rest of the world! Sigh...!
